My most recent.... Another pastel on suede. I have a bunch of velour (and a few new sand papers to try!) that is being mounted and I was not patient enough to wait on it. This one however, does not have a lot of dark colors, so it was fine to do on the velour. I did have a lot of fun with the clover in the foreground! I probably spent way too much time on it! I really like the way Alice is sitting in the middle of it! I could have done her vertically and zoomed in on her... but I like it this way better!

I just noticed this lily this morning... it is practically perfect. I managed to get this shot before it started to fade in the sun. Love the pink against the bright yellow center!

This is a pastel of a military service dog that I was commissioned to do as a gift for the dog's person. Rolf is retired and living in the states with a friend of the soldier while he is back overseas. He is due back this month and they are celebrating Christmas in June.
My client is also including Rolf in a portrait she has commissioned me to do of all her dogs... past and present. It is going to be a long skinny one. I am doing a horse one like it also. They should be very fun to do.... The dog one has 6 dogs and one cat in it. and the horse one has 6 horses in it. I will be starting the horse one sometime this summer.

I am happy with the way this one turned out... but it took me a bit longer than I thought it would. It is sort of my least favorite pose... Conformation portraits, though classic just don't show any personality. Unless you have a horse with a gorgeous body, I don't recommend them. I also find them boring to work on.... another reason to talk clients out of having me do them. This client insisted and luckily the main horse in this portrait does have a beautiful body. I will have to go back into this one and play with it just a little bit more... and add my signature... I forgot it!!

Finished! And I just got back from delivering it! They loved it!! The family lives in Charlotte, N.C. and I got to spend one nite with the family.... It was really fun seeing the kids. The photos were originally taken a few years ago. So they have grown up a lot since then. A very charming family! They are going to have me do an individual portrait of each child as the graduate from high school. I photographed the eldest daughter (Jordan) while I was there with her 2 horses... got some really beautiful shots. We took them at about 6:00 in the evening ... the light was perfect! I will share a few of those photos in a few days.

Working on Sarah... This little girl is just cute as a button!! I also got some great photos of her playing with a pink "Little Kitty" umbrella!
