Wow, Debi, this is one huge commission!! Congrats, it is looking amazing. Where did you find pastel paper this big? I am glad you convinced the client about the boy’s hands being near his face, it gives the whole piece variety and liveliness. Love it so far and impressed by your work. Keep going, its going to be amazing. (framing it will make it one heavy painting, btw)
Thank you Sophie! I am using suede matt board from my framer. The biggest sheet is 40"X60"... I did have to have it mounted onto what we call gator board... which is a hard foam core board. I wish that I could get some of the other pastel boards this big. I guess I could start experimenting with some of the pastel gessos on masonite... but it is rare that I do pieces this large. It has been a fun challenge though! And I am so very thankful that I do not have to frame it!!
